Section Overview
Ad Filters allow you to restrict ads with specific keywords or landing pages from appearing on your site.
You can create filters to block certain ads that may be inappropriate, irrelevant or from a particular advertiser – thereby allowing you to closely manage the user experience in your site or app. Once you create the filter, you can then turn it ON for one or more of your sites.
Please note that creating too many filters would impact your fill rate and your earnings from your site.
Filters can be of 2 broad types
1. Keyword based - Keyword based filters restrict ads based on the ad text or the ad’s landing page.
To give you a broad example, if you wouldn’t want ads pertaining to gambling appearing on your site, you can block all ads which have the keyword ‘gambling’ in it, either in its landing page or in the ad text itself.
2. Block advertiser – You can create a blanket filter to block ALL ads from a specific advertiser via the Ad Review Center. This can be done by clicking on the “Block This Advertiser” link in the Ad Review Center. To prevent accidental use of this feature, prior to blocking, a set of sample ads from the said advertiser will be thrown up for your quick perusal, so you can make an informed decision.
Do I have to specifically turn ON the filter that I created for my sites?
Yes. Ads which match the filter criteria will stop being served on your site within 5 minutes of turning ON the filter. A filter turned ON for a site can be turned OFF again at any point in time.
How many filters can I turn ON for my sites?
A site can have any number of filters turned ON for it. This also works the other way around. A filter can be turned ON for any number of sites.
How does turning ON filters impact the fill rate and earnings from my site?
Since filters block certain ads from being shown on your site, they could reduce the fill rate and the earnings from your site. The extent of the drop could vary based on the keywords used in the filters.
