Anne Frisbie is confident that five years from now we’re all going to laugh about the relative simplicity of the mobile advertising marketplace. It is after all, dominated by two huge companies. It is still in the nascent phases of creative development. And global brands are just starting to develop their expertise.
Not that the new VP & Managing Director, North America of InMobi doesn’t take her job seriously. Frisbie is experienced enough to know that there is still plenty of room t...

Yesterday I wrote about InMobi’s bold plan to grab mobile advertising market share while the getting is good. Apple and Google are distracted in an ugly turf war over iPhone/iPad advertising; meanwhile, InMobi, one of the largest international mobile advertising networks and backed with U.S. venture capital, is just starting to make inroads into the U.S. They soft launched in the U.S. earlier this year, and turned things on formally a couple of weeks ago.
Today they’re announcing a $2 mil...

Apple's new iAd platform has brought more attention to mobile advertising, which can only benefit other players in the industry including other mobile OSes, say competing mobile advertising networks.
According to James Lamberti, global vice president of research and marketing of mobile ad network, inMobi, Apple will likely lead the iPhone mobile ad scene, given the weight the company is throwing behind the iAd platform.
However, for app developers to maximize the advertising opportunity in...

Naveen, your company began with a strong focus on the Indian market. Can you tell us about the basic structure of that market?
In fact there are 2 distinct sets of users in the Indian market.
The first segment uses the mobile as a “snacking device”. They have other ways to access the internet at home or work, and the phone is a secondary means.
The second segment is the one that I think is more important. These are people whose first access to the internet is through mobile. The mobile is...

Web startup companies are synonymous with the Silicon Valley due to the trend that has been set over the past decade. This is understandably so, with companies like Google, Cisco, Intel, Sun and a lot other renowned multi-billion dollar companies emerging from the Valley. So, do all successful internet based product companies emerge out of here or is this just an assumption?
InMobi is one of the world’s fastest growing mobile advertising networks that has emerged out of India and has proven...

In August, we covered mobile ad network InMobi, which has been performing very well in the Asia and Africa and beginning to expand to Europe. My colleague Robin Wauters wrote that while InMobi was seeing success in some global markets, traction in Europe is key for the ad network to really take off. Four months later, InMobi is now profitable and seeing a fair amount of growth in Europe and America.
Asia, where the ad network had a stronghold, currently employs the highest number of ad impr...

They are young. They are all batchmates from IIT and they think they are on to something truly big – ads on mobile Internet. Meet mKhoj and its founders – Naveen Tewari, Amit Gupta and Abhay Singhal. How is InMobi different from its competitors?
Instead of focusing on being different we’d much rather focus on doing things better. What has helped us grow to this point is our focus on solving real customer needs and our value proposition to our partners. InMobi has consistently focused on providing higher quality and monetization levels for our publishers and greater return-on-investment (ROI) for advertisers, many of whom are trying the mobile internet medium for the first time, or for t...

One of the areas that gets short shrift during this era of app-mania is the global mobile market where literally billions of users wait to be addressed on phones that never saw a downloadable program. One media buyer once joked to me that every mobile ad network in the U.S. seems to have the same metrics. "They will all tell you about the one billion ads they serve every month," he told me. "It is the same statistic."
How about another statistic. "We serve over 5 billion ads per month," claim...

InMobi is growing. The last month has been eventful in several ways. Our network traffic has grown to over 2.5 billion impressions and we recently entered Europe. That’s two milestones we had set for ourselves, achieved in the same month. We never really announced our entry in Australia, but now we are officially launched in Western Europe. To begin with, InMobi’s services will be available in UK, France, Germany, Italy & Spain. The expansion into new continents has been spurred by InMob...
