Meet the InMobi Exchange Team: Pamela Ibarra

Meet Pamela Ibarra, Vice-President, Partner Management for InMobi Exchange. In this conversation with us, Pamela shares insights about the Exchange team at InMobi and her #LifeAtInMobi.

Tell us about your role and the team

I joined InMobi in August 2022, as Vice President, Partner Management for InMobi Exchange, making me and the team responsible for all the revenue across the Exchange business. InMobi Exchange is the largest independent in-app exchange in the world. It is a big team with a lot of different segments. We have all the demand side platform (DSP) relationships, which are demand relationships as they come in with some of the biggest and most exciting companies on the demand side in the world and we work with all the in-app publisher relationships as well. This includes some of the biggest gaming and non-gaming names, all the way down to some small publishers from regional markets. We have about 40,00 publishers across the globe, which is a very large global footprint.

The global nature of InMobi Exchange, requires us to have regional management teams, that look after individual countries and market plans, including not just North America but also Western Europe, India, Japan, Korea, and others, where we really try and look at exchange from a lot of different lenses. We also work very closely with the product teams, to stay on the pulse of what is most innovative and exciting and is going to move the needle for our publishers and demand partners.

What is the biggest impact that your team has on InMobi?

I would say that InMobi Exchange is vital to InMobi’s global business. We know that advertising keeps the internet free, it keeps the publishers living and breathing. Advertising at InMobi is the same as it is across the internet and is extremely crucial from the ecosystem perspective. The InMobi Exchange business, powers some really cool innovations, new ways of thinking, and content creation. And everything that is happening, happens because of the work of the genius people that we have in the team.

What is working with InMobi Exchange like for you?

I have always liked working in advertising. It comes with a very straightforward mission, which is easy to align with, we work towards increasing revenue while making it work for the publishers and advertisers. But what is different about doing this at InMobi is that we truly are customer-oriented, and it is a place that is deeply committed to entrepreneurism. Everyone is fueled with great ideas, and they just run with them without any barriers. We are a team of self-starters, passionate individuals – who give it their all and don’t know for an answer. This ends up creating a very exciting, dynamic, and energizing environment for everyone.

How is InMobi different from other organizations?

There are a couple of things that I can think of. First would be the great technology that we’ve built and has been a constant from the initial years. But what’s interesting is that we don’t fit the same mold as most of our competitors, because we don’t have a game studio, we’re not just working in a gaming Ad network. We have built the exchange to be a healthy and unique mix of brand creatives and performance creatives.

The other aspect is the culture. As I mentioned earlier as well, the energy and enthusiasm at InMobi is unlike anything I’ve experienced before. It would also be the cultural diversity of the organization, an Indian company making its mark in the West, and internally that opens a lot of different perspectives, ideas, and thought processes for us. And I think that’s a real place of power for InMobi.

What according to you makes people successful at InMobi?

It’s essential for the personal values of the individual to align with InMobi’s values because we take our values very seriously and they are ingrained in the organization’s DNA. That would mean, being bold, creative, and entrepreneurial. People who don’t necessarily take no for an answer, who like to figure out and experiment on their own along the way and not being told exactly what is expected of them. I think those are the people who truly succeed and thrive because they will always get a lot of runways above for them to keep striving.
