InMobi: Apple Leads North America in Mobile Ad Impressions

InMobi is releasing news today that comes as a welcome development for Apple, the Cupertino, California-based tech giant that has been taking a backseat to Android growth headlines in recent weeks. On Friday, InMobi – a leading independent mobile ad network – released its latest InMobi Insights Report for the U.S. The report shows that Apple continues to lead the North American mobile ad impression market. iOS is claiming a 46% market share although Android continues to “track closely” and outpace Apple’s growth in this category. Android now trails Apple with a 43.6% OS share. “Both platforms continue to remain highly competitive,” a release from InMobi reads, “highlighting a clear opportunity for mobile advertising across both Android and iOS in North America.” The data presented in the report was sourced from the InMobi mobile advertising network from September to November 2012. “Mobile advertising continues to show a positive trend in North America, tablet and connected devices are growing significantly, but smartphones are currently experiencing higher growth,” says Crid Yu, Vice President and Managing Director at InMobi. “Over two-thirds of ad impressions on the InMobi network last quarter were from mobile apps, which is fantastic news for developers,” Yu concludes. “This shift in mobile app advertising is also great for marketers as it allows them to create a more immersive and compelling experience for the user, which ultimately benefits the success of their campaign.”
