Android remains most popular OS in France, but iOS is closing the gap

PARIS, FRANCE – 23rdApril 2012:

InMobi, the largest independent mobile advertising network, today released its Quarterly Mobile Insights Report: French Edition, January to March 2012. The report shows continued growth in the region, with mobile impressions on InMobi’s French network increasing 20 per cent in 90 days and now serving 3.3 billion impressions. The report highlights the continued growth of mobile advertising in France, as the InMobi network grew by 20% in 90 days. The Q1 2012 report reveals that Android maintained its top spot in France with 40.5% of share, with iOS closing the gap by 9 share points. Despite this, however, three of the top ten handsets in Q1 2012 were Apple devices, whose combined 35% share of total handset impressions was greater than that of the rest of the top ten devices combined. Alice Henry, Head of Sales, France, at InMobi comments: “In the first three months of this year in France we have not only increased our network reach by 20 per cent, but we have served over 3 billion impressions. The report has also uncovered that the mobile web holds 62 per cent of total impressions. In-app advertising has in fact shown 49 per cent growth in Q1 2012, showing the beginning of a strong ecosystem build up for apps in the French market.”

Henry adds: “Android continues to top the operating system share of impressions in France, although iOS is beginning to gain ground. In addition, Apple remains the dominant manufacturer with French consumers, continuing to grow its lead in Q1 2012.”
