Android Continues Market Lead Over iOS with 34% Impressions Share in Europe

LONDON, UK – March 13, 2012

Today, InMobi, the largest independent mobile ad network, released its Mobile Insights Report: European Edition, February 2012. This comprehensive report is based on data from InMobi’s global network. The report highlights the continued growth of mobile advertising in Europe, as the InMobi network grew by 63% in 90 days, or15.2 billion monthly impressions.The February 2012 report unveils that,while Android is still the number one Operating System, its lead over iOS has decreased, with iOS growing by five share points to 28 per cent and Android decreasing by one point to34 per cent.  RIM’s OS remains steady in third place at 17 per cent, with the BlackBerry 8520 the second most popular handset after the Apple iPhone 4.

"We expect to see continued growth in iOS, driven by last week’s unveiling of the new iPad, as well as the reduced pricing of iPad 2” says Rob Jonas, Vice President and Managing Director, EME, InMobi.“The iOS growth on our network and increased adoption of tablets overall align with the results of our recent Mobile Media Consumption Study, which unveils that European mobile consumers are already spending more time on mobile connected devices than TVs or PCs."
