InMobi, the world’s largest independent mobile advertising network announces its expansion to the Spanish market, with the opening of an office in Madrid and appointment of Miguel Melgarejo as Sales Manager. The move comes following strong growth in smartphone usage in the Spanish market, and the company’s plan to expand its footprint in Europe. Over the last three months (December 2011 – February 2012) Spain had 5.3 billion advertising impressions in InMobi’s mobile advertising network, which has a global figure of 93.4 billion global mobile advertising impressions. InMobi has seen the Spanish market grow by 66% in mobile impressions, with Android being the dominant Operating System (OS), accounting for 49.3% of OS share of impressions. This growth in mobile impressions and smartphones has led InMobi to respond to the market growth with the appointment of Melgarejo to lead the charge and grow the InMobi into Spain’s largest mobile ad network. Melgarejo brings a strong heritage in mobile advertising and sales, having worked for megabrands such as Nokia, L’Oreal and Yves Saint Laurent, as well as having led the monetisation of Spanish social network Tuenti’s mobile site.
