InMobiMobile Insights Report: Middle East mobile advertising more than doubles in just 3 months.

Smartphone ad share in the region is 39% higher than the global average.

London, United Kingdom, July 5, 2011 -- InMobi, the world's largest independent mobile ad network, today released its Mobile Insights Report: Middle East Edition May 2011, sharing its monthly network data insights. This comprehensive report is based on data from InMobi’s network, which serves over 35.7 billion monthly mobile advertising impressions across the globe including 1.3 billion in the Middle East.

Middle East

The report shows remarkable growth as mobile ad impressions on smartphones in the Middle East more than doubled from February to May 2011. During May 2011, over 875 million ads were served on smartphones, compared to 373 million in February 2011 - a growth of 135%. Ads on smartphones now represent over 65% of all mobile ads in the region across the InMobi network. Rob Jonas, VP and MD Europe and Middle East at InMobi added: "The Middle East region's mobile ad growth is outpacing the global uptake of mobile. This region represents a very tech forward consumer as smartphone adoption rises at remarkable rates. With smartphone impressions accounting for over 3 of every 5 mobile ads, the mobile ecosystem appears to be a very attractive channel for advertisers." Much of the smartphone growth was driven by the increase in ads on the iPhone OS smartphone platform.iPhone OS captured 16.4 additional share points, climbing to 27.6% of all mobile ad requests in May 2011. RIM OS share also doubled, capturing an additional 3.6 share points reaching 7.3% share. "The Middle East mobile platform landscape is proving to be very dynamic with Apple iOS capturing over 16 share points in just 3 months. The interesting finding is that Android has not yet gained significant traction in the region, which is in contrast to the global surge of the Android platform over the past 6 months. Android has provided a spark to smartphone adoption across the globe and is likely to further accelerate this market once it gains some support. If iOS continues to grow and Android gains some traction, smartphone platforms may represent well over 75% of all impressions in this market over the next 3 months.", comments James Lamberti, VP of Global Research & Marketing at InMobi. As smartphones adoptionrapidly advances, the access methods, whether mobile web or native applications, continue to grow at a more consistent pace. Ads on mobile web pages represent nearly 3 of every 4 ads on the Middle East InMobi network.

Global

This report highlights the continued growth of mobile advertising globally, as the InMobi network grew by 48.8 percent or 10.3 billion monthly impressions in just 90 days. Smartphone ad impressions grew by 5.7 billion monthly impressions, contributing 55.2% to the overall growth of impressions.
