Why I Joined InMobi: Narayan Murthy Ivaturi

Narayan Murthy Ivaturi joined InMobi as our Director - Digital Native and Performance, Southeast Asia. Learn more about him and why he likes working at InMobi.

Narayan Murthy was introduced to the world of advertising by a college senior only when he was pursuing his MBA degree. Since then, he has gained over 15 years of experience in advertising, media planning, media sales, business development, mobile and e-commerce. He has proven the worth of his knowledge and excellence time and again, and he does not plan on stopping anytime soon.

Having started his career in the sales department of Eureka Forbes, Narayan realized his strengths lay in his superior people skills. “As I pursued my MBA and was exposed to the industry more, I knew that there would be nothing else that I would want to do,” he says. “The idea of communicating and dealing with both internal and external clients, partners and other stakeholders was exhilarating!” Even though he started working much earlier, Narayan maintains that his career truly only started with Omnicom.

Narayan spent five years with Omnicom (DDB Mudra), where he handled the account planning, servicing and media planning functions for CPG brands like Rasna and Dhara. He also stepped into the digital arena for the first time with Tribal DDB. He then moved on to working with Yahoo India in a sales role where he managed large clients across industries like matrimony, travel, classifieds and commerce.

He was also made National Sales Head during his tenure there. Narayan has an impressive track record across his journey since then. He was the Head of Sales Strategy at Times India Group, the VP of Global Revenue at Vserv and the APAC Head of Mobile and New Tech at GroupM.

Today, InMobi is enthralled to have Narayan with us as our Director for Digital Native and Performance for Southeast Asia. He carries with him an unparalleled experience with user acquisition strategies, user retention and CRM for mobile business.

He manages InMobi’s Southeast Asia performance business and Indonesia agency brand business. 

Narayan joined InMobi when the world was affected by COVID-19. “Even though it was a COVID year, the onboarding process was absolutely smooth,” he shares. “Within a week I became familiar with how things worked here and was acquainted with all the key stakeholders. I became a part of the inclusive culture here quite quickly.”

He believes that the most essential factor for a satisfying workplace experience are the people you work with and are constantly surrounded by. “All my colleagues are friendly, supportive, honest and professional. It’s the most important thing for me.”

When asked about the favorite part of his job, Narayan quips, “It is the perfect mix of product and revenue. It gives me the perfect view and understanding of the product, its changes and its impacts. It is exciting to see what is going wrong so that we can work our magic and fix it.”
