Cecilia Jenkins joined InMobi as a Senior HR Business Partner in October 2022 with 17 years of expertise in the field of Human Resources. Cecilia talks about the warmth and sense of belonging she has experienced here and how she is looking to contribute through her #LifeAtInMobi.
Tell us about your role
I have joined InMobi as a Senior HR Business Partner, and my role involves supporting various divisions of our business in North America, including Sales, Commerce, and Marketing.
Can you tell us about your professional journey before joining InMobi?
It has been a long and fantastic journey of over 17 years now. I started my professional journey in New York City as an HR coordinator and then went on to become a recruiter. I also worked in the rewards and benefits space for some time before eventually moving on to an HR Business Partner role. I have worked in various industries during that time, including finance, defense, publishing, and now the ad tech industry as I joined InMobi.
What made you want to join the organization?
When I was first reached out to by one of the recruiters at InMobi, I wasn’t really in the market looking for any opportunities. In fact, I had taken up a personal project in Michigan and was completely focused on that. When I learned more about InMobi during the initial conversations I had, the one thing that stood out to me the most was the sense of belonging. It was a common thread and reflected in all the interactions I had. Everyone radiated a very warm and welcoming vibe, which was very different from any other organization I had worked with, and that is what I would say made me want to join InMobi.
How would you describe the people philosophy at InMobi?
Adding on to what I said earlier about the sense of belonging and warmth I felt during my interview process, and having now experienced that being a part of InMobi, I can confidently say that it is an extension of our people philosophy. I have been a part of many companies – big and small. The way InMobi treats its people is truly unique to the organization. Identifying and acknowledging the different circumstances and needs of each individual, even during extremely critical times, is what makes a difference. We are trusted to be human and compassionate because each situation is different and that is just an incredible thing to be a part of.
What do you find the most rewarding part about your work?
Being able to share the different experiences that I come with while adding value and contributing toward growing InMobi’s footprint and navigating our way around the North American market. Contributing to the different processes, which could include mitigating our legal risks or simply engaging in conversations with the leaders and sharing employment best practices. Driving business initiatives that are necessary for becoming an effective and efficient organization with engaged employees. These are the things that make me feel I am adding value and make my work at InMobi rewarding.
Also, being a part of an organization like InMobi itself is rewarding. As someone who joined recently, I get to learn something new, exciting, and inspiring about InMobi with each passing day – whether it’s something that we did in the past, are currently doing, or something that we are innovating for the future. Learning and understanding the impact that our products have in the global markets is rewarding to be associated with.
Tell us about your life outside of work
I am currently in the process of renovating a property which is also the personal project I mentioned I was working on before joining InMobi. I love building things and I always wanted to build a house from scratch. While this one is not from scratch, it is equally exciting. I left my previous role and started traveling for a while. I had this property that I wanted to start working on and decided now was the time. It is so gratifying and rewarding to see all my crazy ideas come to life and see the transformation from what it was to what it is now. I have spent so much time and effort on the project that I can probably do it as a professional now, outside of HR.
