How has your journey at InMobi evolved in the last five years?
I joined InMobi soon after I finished my master’s degree and it’s been five years for me here now, so most of my professional experience has been with InMobi and I’d say that’s primarily because of the fulfilling nature of the work that I do here and the constant learning experiences that help me in becoming better at what I do. I first joined the team in San Francisco as Product Specialist and was in that role for a year and a half before transitioning to the role of a Senior Solutions Engineer in London for about two years, before moving back to the US in 2022. And now I work as a Lead Solutions Engineer, based out of InMobi’s New York office.
In the last five years, I’ve been able to transition from my initial role where I handled a select set of clients to now leading solutions engineering for the entire North America and Europe region. I also got the opportunity to work with and learn from some amazing people, from different backgrounds, countries, and time zones and get an idea of how truly diverse InMobi is as an organization.
Tell us more about your current role
My role is a blend of business and technology which is what I always wanted. I did my Master's in Information Systems, where I learned technical concepts of Python, Data Analytics, and Visualizations as well as business concepts such as Product Management and Process Innovation. Now, I am responsible for the technical success of the customers which are top demand-side platforms (Tradedesk, Liftoff, Amazon, Yahoo), viewability partners (DoubleVerify, MOAT, IAS), and several key agencies. I work with them from the pre-integration stage to integrating them as well as troubleshoot issues if they may arise post-go-live by utilizing a deep understanding of the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) specifications, ad serving, and programmatic buying. One of my focus areas in the team is to enable automation wherever and whenever possible to reduce manual effort, and human errors and be able to process large datasets for our external and internal stakeholders.
What keeps you excited and motivated about your work?
Being in the tech industry, it is the constant need to learn and upskill myself that keeps me going. We are in a very dynamic and fast-paced industry with new advancements coming up every other week. I try to keep myself on top of them by constantly using the resources we have here like taking up new LinkedIn learning courses and developing new skills, picking up automation, analyzing the abundant complex data points, and always looking for avenues where I can volunteer, take a step forward and initiative in terms of whatever is happening. This attitude is always appreciated at InMobi, we want people to take ownership and be self-drivers. InMobi also gives me the freedom to experiment and think differently and go beyond my remit to try new things.
What enables you to have a growth mindset as you move forward?
It is the scale of opportunities that I have at InMobi that has attributed to my growth here and I am confident that it will continue to do so. So, suppose I want to move to a different role, I know that I can do it and have a team that will enable me to take up the challenge and encourage me to pursue it. If I decide I would want to venture into a product management role, I know I can work towards it and make it happen at InMobi by start building relationships with people and taking up additional projects. Having such talented folks across the board and a non-hierarchical culture that helps in building relationships and networking is something that I really appreciate about being here.
A bit about your life outside work
I am a big Formula 1 freak. The time zone is not a factor for me when it comes to this. At times I have been up very early in the morning or been up all night just to watch the F1 events in real time. I will also take the liberty of calling myself an amiable host. I enjoy cooking and often making lip-smacking food and getting creative with some innovative cocktails.
